Durham E-bike Rally

The Durham E-bike Association held its first rally on October 14 to promote and create awareness of an alternative means of transportation. E-bikes operate off of a charged battery, when the battery power runs low, pedals are used to propel the bicycle and simultaneously charge the battery. E-bikes were legalized in Ontario in 2006 and are street legal in seven provinces and one territory. The Durham E-bike association meets every month and is working hard to promote the E-bike as a safe and viable mode of transportation in Durham Region. City Councillor John Henry showed up on behalf of Mayor Gray to show the city's support and positive vision for the E-bike. For more information on the Durham E-bike association visit their facebook group or send an email to durhamebikeassociation@yahoo.ca.
