2008 November > Adelaide McLaughlin PS 50th Anniversary
“Building for Citizenship” is engraved on the spade that Col. Sam McLaughlin used on May 8th, 1958 to break ground for a school that he named after the love of his life, Adelaide McLaughlin. Last month, the staff and students of Adelaide McLaughlin Public School hosted a 50th Anniversary Celebration honouring the amazing woman who devoted her life to our community. The evening included memories of Adelaide McLaughlin as recalled by Elsie Henderson (former employee of Parkwood), the unveiling of a portrait of Adelaide McLaughlin, and presentations of Trowel and Shovel and Engraved Rock. Former and current staff & students enjoyed refreshments and cake and the opportunity to view memorabilia of the past that was on display.
