2008 November > 50 Years of Barbershop Harmonizing Nobody was more surprised than Len Clement when he walked into his weekly Barbershop Quartet of Oshawa meeting last month and was greeted by a room full of his harmonizing friends and family. The “Oshawa Horseless Carriagemen,” a closely-knit group of local barbershop singers organized a special evening to honour their friend Len for his 50-year membership anniversary with the organization. Over the half-century of his dedication to Barbershop singing, Len has donated countless hours and energy to his varying roles in The Barbershop Harmony Society, formally known as The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in North America (that’s a mouthful!). An extra special guest in attendance was District President George Shields, long-time member of East York Chapter and recently honoured by the International Barbershop Society. Congratulations Len!
