2008 November > Purple Ribbons for Hope

Durham Children’s Aid Society (CAS) Executive Director, Wanda Secord and Durham Regional Police Services Chief Mike Ewles decorated police cars with purple ribbons last month to raise awareness about identifying and reporting child abuse. Last year, Durham CAS conducted 3,858 investigations into suspected child abuse. As October is Child Abuse Prevention Month, Durham Children’s Aid Society (CAS) again partnered with agencies across Ontario on the Child Abuse Prevention campaign to raise awareness. The Catalogue of Hope is a key feature of this campaign, which is a unique opportunity for donors to have a say in how their financial support is used. By choosing to support specific areas of need (such as post-secondary bursaries or summer camps) donors are assured of a direct impact by their support.
