2008 November > Wine Festival

I often recall my life as a young girl and the memories I think fondly upon. Having Italian parents that were immigrants, our roots and culture were very strong and family was everything. I particularly remember going to my grandparent’s house in the fall where I’d watch my dad and uncles make wine and occasionally steal a few of the aromatic grapes that sat in endless crates. Now unlike Lucille Ball, they did not stomp them with their feet, as the times had progressed by then, however each fall Italians do celebrate the fall harvest and last month the Oshawa Italian Recreation Club did just that with a Wine Festival. If was a full house at the club on 245 Simcoe South as guest enjoyed dinner, dancing, entertainment… and even some traditional stomping of the grapes!
