2008 November > The Show Must Go On! The highly anticipated opening of the Regent Theatre took place last month as crowds congregated on the sidewalk at 50 King Street East. Despite adversity, and your typical last minute construction setbacks, the waiting crowd was energized and anxious to be a part of this historic event. Many reminisced about their younger days and what Regent Theatre memories and experiences they hold dear. After many years of vacancy and neglect, the revival of the Regent will breathe new life into the downtown core, contributing to the recent & future revitalization projects and new businesses creating a destination for entertainment, shopping and dining. The evening featured a fabulous opening concert including David Usher, Leahy & Dr. Draw. Another highlight included the induction of comedians Barry Authors and Howard Swinson to the Oshawa Walk of Fame. The Regent Theatre, being transformed to its original grandeur, already boasts a line up of future performances that will please all audiences.
