Chinese Art Exhibit
Your Student Association of Durham College and TD Canada Trust sponsored an art exhibition last month in the South Wing hallway of the college from February 1st to 20th showcasing the work of Barb Suen, Durham College Graphic Design professor, and members of the Chinese Artists Association. The exhibition was held in conjunction with an event at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto (CCCGT), where a larger exhibition of Suen's paintings were on display on Sunday, February 14th. The works were created under a 2008 Visual Artists grant from the Ontario Arts Council, an agency of the government of Ontario. The CCCGT exhibition is being further supported by the Ontario Arts Council through a 2009 Exhibition Assistance grant. A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the unveiling of the exhibition, along with a children's choir, a Chinese lion dance, a brush and ink demonstration and a Chinese New Year draw to round out the festivities.
